Life Renewed

It’s been exactly one week since we hitched up and departed our winter home in Davenport, FL.   Seven days, and we’re on our fourth campground in our Springtime Sojourn.   Four down, 17 more to go! First stop took us to Madison, FL (Florida is a really weird state to travel in, and it takes a whole lot of time to leave it!), to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park.   There was a small water park, but temps were a bit too chilly to partake.   Besides, being a family-centric campground, there were a large amount of actual FAMILIES there, one presumes due to Spring break for schools.   It was loud, the kids were out of control, zipping around the campground in golf carts, pint-sized 4-wheelers, motorized scooters (the stand-on kind, like what we had as kids that we used to propel with one foot), and on foot.   No regard to speed limit, people walking around, or individual campsites that they used as a cut-through to the other side.   Needless to say, we we...

Well, we’re now down to 4-1/2 days and counting before we hitch up and move on.   Our time here has flown by.   Of course, that has been helped by our frequent trips over to the House of Mouse, as allowed through our Florida Resident Annual Passes. When we started planning and dreaming about what our life would be like once we spent our first winter as Snowbirds, Disney wasn’t even on the radar as far as how we would spend our free time.   Little did we know that we would become full-fledged enthusiasts!   Of course, by TRUE aficionado standards, we’re rookies!   Our new friends/neighbors here have definitely helped us learn lots more about all there is to see/do when you’re not limited to 4 days and a 3-day Park Hopper pass!   It’s really amazing!   We look forward to coming back next year and continuing the adventure into All Things Disney.                 ...

We are down to one month (a short one, at that) left here in Florida, and I find myself reflecting on all the things we’ve done, plan on doing, and haven’t quite been able to do. One of the things we had hoped to do on a monthly basis was take a trip to the beach for a few hours, just to breathe in the salt air, and maybe dig my tootsies in the sand.   We’ve only done it twice….sort of.   The first time, in mid January,   was a side trip to Indian Rocks Beach (near Clearwater), when we had headed west to visit the Tampa RV show.   After a nice morning of visiting various vendors (no, not RV!), and being able to find a very small wallet that I can put in my pants pocket for the days we visit the parks, we did pop over to the DRV area and chatted with a fellow JX450 owner.   From there, we drove a bit more to find a beach.   However, the weather did not cooperate, and it began to deteriorate rapidly.   We went from sunny to totally socked in, te...

Yes, it’s been over two months since my last entry, and I ask for a bit of understanding for that.   When I last posted, we were eagerly awaiting visitors (Cathi and Louie) so that we could welcome them into our home on wheels, as well as show them a little Disney fun.   Their visit was all we could have hoped for, minus the unseasonably warms temps in the mid-80s.   As with all visits, it was too brief, and left us missing our kids even more.   The time we spent with Cathi and Louie was the best Christmas gift we could ask for, though, so looking at the pictures from their visit is the gift that keeps on giving!
